20th May 2006

today is the day we new zoo volunteers get a special tour at the world famous Night Safari. We even get a special catered tram!! with the eloquent Haliman (who happens to be working in my company! small world huh? he's been volunteering for the past 3 years), we were given a 1st class tram tour!! the lake at the east lodge where the giraffes are located are simply breathing. I almost choked with emotional looking the the colours around the lake (now, i a bit emotional la)

also, a note to fellow singaporeans... the Night Safari has revamped recently and the entrance now has a fire dance, featuring fire eaters next to the Bongo Bongo Burger eatery. Wow.. the music and atmosphere when you enter the Night Safari is simply electrifying... and they have also introduce a Flying Squrriel enclosure, you get to see the furry cuties glide!! Unfortunately, today's session only covered the route along the Leopards's Trail as that is where the Ranger's station are located, so i am not sure if there are any more new stuff going on at the Night Safari. But i really do enjoy thje feeling of the darkness and being immersed right inside nature. Even though this is my 7th trip to the Night Safari, the feeling when I first step into the darkness is amazing. So, even though I thought I was going to sign up for the Fragile Forest Station, after tonight's tour and chatting with the NS Rangers, I think I am 99% keen to sign up for NS Station.. meaning, I will need to put in one more night of volunteer work per month. (NS rangers are required to perform 2 duties instead of 1 duty as in the day zoo).. I wish i have pictures to show but flash photography are a big No No, as the lights will hurt the eyes of the animals and we generally also discourage people from using any form of lighting for walking along the trails! check out more information on Night Safari here

Now, I have to choose my zoo keeper attachment for 1 day.. I wonder if i will be asked to scope poo at the Sealions enclosure or at Australian outback section?

my friend passed me this game link.. enjoy
