among one of the many cullings that are happening...figures are probably not very accurate.. but it serves to tell you how fast people and animals are dying..
animals die at the hands of humans... humans dies at the hands of nature.. animals are part of nature .. so i can't help but feel, is it retribution time? vicious cycle? there are still the dengue threats here... are we, humans, fighting a losing battle? or are we winning? at the expense of more lives lost? The survival of the "fittest".. kill all that deem to be a threat to our own survival??.. but also, there is a small thought in the back of my mind... aren't some diseases/illness brought upon by humans themselves.. madcow is caused by??? suspected cause was a prion transmitted in meat and bone meal products fed to cattle ? and who fed them that? humans? and who eat the cattle? human.. when u mess with nature... u reap the results... blah blah.. juz airing my mind , that's all. factsheets about madcow diease HERE
First bird flu cases in Europe confirmed - ST, p16
Europe is facing a spectre of an outbreak of bird flu after Turkey and Romania confirmed the disease among its fowl. In Turkey, poultry at two turkey farms, other fowl including pigeon and stray dogs are being killed as a precaution. In eastern Romania, some 40,000 birds are to be slaughtered. While neither Turkey nor Romania has confirmed if the virus is the H5N1 strain, the European Union is banning all imports of live bird and feathers from Turkey. Some German states have ordered farmers to keep their poultry in closed sheds or cages for two months to prevent them from being exposed to migratory birds. Veterinarians are not surprised by the spread of the virus to Europe as they had earlier predicted it.
